Turkey Implements New Regulations: Strict Control on the Market for Special Medical Foods
On November 21, 2024, the Official Gazette of Turkey published Announcement No. 32729 of the Medicines and Medical Devices Authority of Turkey, establishing market control regulations for products and foods for special medical uses, which came into force as of the date of the announcement. The main contents include:
(1) The definition of food for special medical use, which aims to ensure that the relevant products have the required effect, safety and quality;
(2) Market control of related products should evaluate the effectiveness, safety and quality of products, GMP compliance level of manufacturers, relevant early warning and use data and other factors, and determine the product market, control plan, sampling and testing according to the evaluation results.
