Nufarm acquires BASF's plant regulator Pentia

ECHEMI 2021-05-07

Recently, Nufarm America announced that it has acquired Pentia® (active ingredients: mepiquat + mepiquat pentaboric acid), a plant growth regulator from BASF, to expand its performance-driven cotton solutions. In the 2021 crop year and beyond, Nufarm will exclusively supply the product to the market.

Pentia has a proven track record in maximizing cotton production. Cotton growers who invest in greater crop potential often use Pentia to improve plant absorption, rain tolerance, high management, boll retention, early maturity, and yield potential. Pentia also enables cotton plants to have better fruit retention and plant height node ratios.

Nufarm customer and brand marketing manager Chris Bowley said: "Pentia has a faster absorption rate than traditional unimproved mepidium and has benefited cotton growers over the years. With the Pentia formula, growers can increase Fix the bell, harvest in advance and increase production."

Pentia will join Nufarm's growing lineup of improved cotton products, including Terminate® cotton harvesting agent and CutOut® cotton defoliant.
