AkzoNobel Invests €22 Million to Position Montataire Plant as Flagship Plant for Decorative Paint Production
AkzoNobel has presented to its French employee representatives and employees a plan that includes an investment of €22 million to position the Montataire plant as a flagship plant for decorative paint production. This move reflects the company's long-term commitment to industrial excellence and French business.
The measures are designed to rationalize, modernize and optimize AkzoNobel's operations, ensuring long-term success while maintaining its strong presence in France. The proposed plan focuses on streamlining operations. This will improve competitiveness and drive sustainable growth.
The company also plans to restructure its commercial and support functions and distribution network, including the transfer of some stores to independent partners and the closure of some stores.
These operational changes are expected to reduce up to 211 positions and create 29 jobs in France. The plan will be implemented gradually from May 2025 to the end of 2026. The consultation process for these plans has been launched with local social partners.
AkzoNobel has announced the closure of production sites in Groot am Rheinland, Cork, Ireland and Lusaka, Zambia, as part of its Industrial Excellence Plan in 2024. Production at these sites has been transferred to other locations in the region.
The company currently has 1,300 employees in France.
