¥200,000 Execution Amount Makes Nucleus Gene and Zhang Hezi Limited Consumers
Nucleus Gene and its legal representative Zhang Hezi have become restricted consumers due to a failure to comply with court orders, linked to an execution amount of 200,000 yuan. The Shenzhen Nanshan District People's Court accepted an enforcement application from Yang on January 23, 2025, regarding a labor dispute, leading to the high consumption restrictions.
Court records indicate that in January, Nucleus Gene and Shenzhen Nucleus Huaxi Medical Testing Laboratory were forced to execute over 205,000 yuan due to this case. On February 10, the court issued a consumption restriction order against Nucleus Gene and Zhang Hezi.
Since 2017, Nucleus Gene has faced penalties for its genetic testing business. Since 2020, its nucleic acid testing operations have been penalized multiple times for falsifying results and forging medical documents, yet this did not hinder the company's rapid expansion, claiming to have conducted 700 million nucleic acid tests. In 2022, Nucleus Gene registered 16 nucleic acid testing institutions, drawing public attention.
After the pandemic, in 2023, Zhang Hezi briefly stirred public interest by adding non-residential real estate leasing to the business scope and establishing an agricultural company. In March 2024, he released a video on Douyin to clarify that the newly formed Wuhan Nucleus Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. was a seed company researching functional rice, not a prepared food company.
Currently, Nucleus Gene's official channels, including its website and WeChat account, provide limited business information. On Douyin, aside from Zhang Hezi's personal account, there are two accounts labeled as Nucleus Gene’s official livestreams. One shows the company selling some personal care products online, while the other has not posted since last August.
With 51,000 followers, Zhang Hezi has released 67 videos, but information regarding the company's operations is scarce. One video mentioned that Shanghai Nucleus Biotechnology Co., Ltd. acquired 18.5 acres of industrial land in Shanghai in July 2024 for a minimum price of 18.3 million yuan, translating to 750 yuan per square meter.
On February 11, a reporter contacted Nucleus Gene's official phone line to understand the reasons behind the consumption restriction and the company's current business status, but the representative declined the interview.
As of now, among the 66 companies Nucleus Gene has invested in, 21 have been deregistered, with 8 of these established after 2022. Notably, Xi’an Huaxian Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in October 2023 and deregistered in March 2024.
