Toray Develops Biodegradable Spherical Nylon Particles Aiming for 2025 Commercialization
Recently, Toray Industries announced the development of spherical biodegradable nylon fine particles. The company plans to provide samples and assess these particles as potential ingredients for cosmetics, with the aim of advancing technology for mass production and sales. The target is to commercialize this innovative product by the end of March 2025.
Toray's investment in biodegradable nylon research is driven by the need to address environmental and regulatory challenges. Notably, the OECD 301F test has shown that the biodegradation rate of these particles in active sludge exceeds 80% within 28 days. This significant achievement underscores Toray's commitment to creating sustainable solutions that meet growing market demands while benefiting the environment.
As the cosmetic industry increasingly seeks eco-friendly alternatives, Toray's new product could position the company as a leader in sustainable cosmetic ingredients, paving the way for greener formulations in the future.
