Kemira Acquires AquaBlue

Kemira, a leading global provider of sustainable chemical solutions for water-intensive industries, has completed its acquisition of AquaBlue, a privately held company in Ohio, USA. The transaction, valued at less than $10 million, strengthens Kemira's position in the North American market and supports its growth in industrial water treatment services—a sector growing faster than the traditional water treatment market.

AquaBlue provides wastewater and industrial water treatment services to customers in the food and beverage, manufacturing, and healthcare industries. The company projects revenue of approximately $9 million by 2025 and currently employs eight people.

“This acquisition combines AquaBlue’s service expertise with Kemira’s technology, enhancing our ability to create more value for our customers,” said Tuija Pohjolainen-Hiltunen, Executive Vice President of Water Treatment Solutions. “This is our first acquisition since acquiring Water Engineering, Inc., which has laid a solid foundation for our organic and inorganic growth in the North American industrial water treatment services market.”

AquaBlue will be integrated into Kemira’s Water Treatment Solutions division and will continue to operate at its existing locations.
