ABVC BioPharma to Invest Over $120 Million in U.S. Facilities to Meet Unmet Medical Needs
ABVC BioPharma, Inc. (NASDAQ: ABVC), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, has announced plans to significantly boost its investment in U.S. operations, with over $100 million already invested since 2015. This strategic move aims to create a comprehensive pharmaceutical manufacturing and botanical production ecosystem, positioning the U.S. as the global hub for ABVC's drug development.
The company has already acquired a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in California for $60 million, which plays a vital role in supporting its clinical projects. This facility specializes in producing GMP-certified small-scale drug products for clinical trials across various phases. It is crucial for ABVC's pipeline, which includes six drug candidates and one medical device, focusing on areas such as oncology and CNS disorders.
ABVC plans to invest an estimated $120 million in constructing "gigafactories" in the U.S. These factories will utilize advanced technologies like vertical farming and AI-driven environmental controls to cultivate high-value medicinal plants in a sustainable manner. The goal is to produce over 1,000 metric tons of botanical raw materials annually while reducing raw material costs by 30%.
This expansion is expected to create over 500 new jobs and generate projected sales exceeding $100 million annually within five years. “With more than $100 million already invested, ABVC is dedicated to building a world-class production infrastructure in the U.S.,” stated Uttam Patil, CEO of ABVC. The company aims to deliver high-quality, plant-based therapies to patients globally while ensuring a sustainable supply chain.
