Huntsman Achieves ISCC+ Certification for TPU Production Facilities in Shanghai and Osnabrück
On March 3, 2025, Huntsman announced that its thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) production facilities in Shanghai, China, and Osnabrück, Germany, have successfully obtained ISCC+ certification. This certification is a globally recognized standard for supply chain sustainability and traceability.
With this achievement, Huntsman can now offer products from its world-class TPU portfolio that are certified through quality balance, supporting its customers' sustainability goals.
The ISCC+ standard is a voluntary certification designed for companies involved in recycling and/or the production of bio-based products, ensuring complete traceability throughout the production process. The quality balance attribution method used by ISCC+ allows tracking the quantity and sustainability characteristics of recycled and/or bio-based materials within the value chain, attributing them to specific products based on verifiable bookkeeping.
Michael Quinn, Vice President of Global Elastomers at Huntsman’s Polyurethanes Division, expressed pride in achieving this milestone, following certifications received at facilities in Rotterdam and Wilton. He stated, "This milestone reflects our commitment to transitioning towards circular economy principles. Achieving ISCC+ certification requires a thorough examination of supply chain practices and adherence to strict environmental, social, and traceability standards."
Huntsman’s TPU products are widely used across various sectors, including footwear, textiles, and the automotive industry. They are essential for specific industrial applications, manufacturing components such as cables, wheels, belts, hoses, and films. Additionally, they serve as raw materials for adhesives.
Huntsman’s facilities in Rotterdam and Wilton have been ISCC+ certified since 2023, reinforcing the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability.
