U.S. whey rose to a six-year high, and the domestic whey market rose at the bottom
U.S. whey has soared all the way this year, reaching a six-year high. In the first quarter, domestic imports of whey powder increased significantly year-on-year. The downturn in the aquaculture industry is not conducive to demand. Previously, traders were not optimistic about selling at a loss in the market. The market experience of whey powder It fell back to the bottom. However, high-end foreign traders are losing sales, which may affect subsequent imports. The probability of pig prices bottoming out and rebounding increases. In the world of whey prices at home and abroad, the market is upside down and difficult to maintain for a long time. As downstream inventory is depleted, market purchases and sales have improved. Domestic whey prices rose at the bottom, stable but strong, and subsequent changes in domestic supply and demand attracted attention.
U.S. whey market rises to six-year high
Recently, the price of whey powder in the central region has continued to rise, reaching a six-year high. However, in recent days, the price of whey powder in the central region has been actively trading, and both ends of the range and the lower limit of the centralized price have seen the first decline this year. Some manufacturers said that they plan to supply products to spot market customers in the next few weeks, but most of them are sold through contracts, and there are very few available stocks at present. The market for whey powder remains unstable. Some market participants predict that since 0.7 US dollars is regarded as a psychological barrier to the market, the price will remain range-bound within 0.60 US dollars. Another part of the people believes that even if the current supply is tight, it is not enough to withstand the market downturn caused by the hesitation of end users. The price of high-protein composite products is still at a high level. Once the supply of goods increases, spot transactions may pick up, which will be more conducive to a comprehensive understanding of market trends in the next few weeks. At present, the price of feed whey powder in the central region of the United States is in the range of US$1190.5-1306.2/ton.
China's whey imports in March 2021 increased by 77.3% year-on-year
According to China Customs statistics, China imported 76,300 tons of whey products in March 2021, an increase of 77.3% year-on-year, and imports were US$90 million, an increase of 78.7% year-on-year. The average price was US$1,180/ton, an increase of 0.8% year-on-year. Among them, imports from the EU accounted for 35%, imports from the United States accounted for 42%, and imports from Belarus accounted for 8%.
Domestic pig prices fluctuate at low levels
This year, domestic hog production capacity has continued to recover. Coupled with the impact of poor consumption, panic selling, price reduction by slaughter companies, and artificial slaughter, the price of hogs has continued to fall. The current national average price is around 8.5-10 yuan, which has fallen below the cost line. However, high feed prices, increased breeding costs, self-reproduction and self-raising are near the loss balance line, fattening farmers fall into a loss quagmire, and their enthusiasm for replenishment is weak, which is not conducive to the demand for whey powder. Pig prices are currently in the bottom range. The stock of sows and piglets last winter was damaged due to the non-pest epidemic, which affected the supply of pigs in June and July and increased the chance of a rebound in pig prices in the future.
