Evonik Launches TEGO® Foamex 8420 to Tackle Foam Challenges in Water-Based Inks
Evonik has just unveiled its latest innovation, TEGO® Foamex 8420, a high-performance defoamer designed to expand its product line specifically for water-based formulations. This silicone-based defoamer concentrate is engineered to address the most challenging foam issues that arise during the production of printing inks and coating varnishes.
The generation of foam can significantly disrupt production processes, hindering the transfer of inks or varnishes and ultimately impacting print quality. Many water-based inks and varnishes, particularly coating varnishes, contain surfactants that stabilize foam, such as DOSS (Dioctyl Sodium Sulfosuccinate). Similar problems occur in various pigment dispersions and inks, where foam-stabilizing raw materials make defoaming exceptionally difficult.
The new TEGO® Foamex 8420 is specifically designed to meet these challenges, providing outstanding defoaming performance in water-based varnishes and inks.

Evonik Coating Additives provides a wide array of auxiliary resins for inks, along with various additives suitable for water-based, radiation-curable, solvent-based inks, and even inkjet applications.
