Safic-Alcan Acquires Anders, Expanding Latin American Presence
The global specialty chemical distributor has acquired a majority stake in Anders, a leading regional specialty chemical distributor in South America.
Anders distributes specialty chemicals, food ingredients, consumables, and equipment from leading global suppliers, serving a broad range of life science sectors, including personal care, home care, and hygiene; pharmaceutical and veterinary; food and nutrition; and industrial sectors, including coatings, inks, and adhesives; processing and packaging; construction and asphalt; plastics; paper and water treatment. Founded in 1964, the company is currently led by Peter Anders Hornung, a third-generation leader. Headquartered in Lima, Peru, the company has offices in Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, Colombia, and Argentina, as well as operations in Uruguay and Paraguay.
The acquisition of this truly pan-Latin American company will complement Safic-Alcan's existing presence in Brazil. Yann Lissilour, CEO of the Safic-Alcan Group, said: "We currently have a strong presence in Latin America and look forward to continuing to create value for our customers and suppliers in the region. With the establishment of new companies in the United States, Canada and Mexico, Safic-Alcan is strengthening its determination to become a major player in the Americas in the coming years."
