Launch of New Herbicide Matero by Adama at 2025 Agriculture Show in Brazil
Adama has officially unveiled its new herbicide, Matero, at the 2025 Agriculture Show in Mato Grosso, Brazil. This innovative product is specifically designed for cotton crops, aiming to provide local farmers with a more efficient solution for weed management.
Matero is a pre-emergent herbicide that utilizes an oil-dispersible (OD) formulation, combining two effective ingredients: Diuron and Trifluralin. According to Adama, this product leverages its proprietary T.O.V. formulation technology, which maximizes the effectiveness of its active components. This technology simplifies field operations while delivering superior weed control, thereby safeguarding the production potential of cotton crops. The T.O.V. formulation represents the principles of Technology, Simplified Operation, and Value to the Farmer.
One of the standout features of Matero is its resistance management capability, which allows it to effectively control a wide range of weeds while demonstrating a high level of selectivity towards cotton plants. It effectively targets various species, including Bidens pilosa, Cenchrus echinatus, Commelina benghalensis, Digitaria insularis, Eleusine indica, and Ipomoea aristolochiaefolia.
A regional marketing manager from Adama emphasized that the launch of Matero aims to connect more closely with Brazilian cotton farmers by offering differentiated formulation solutions to enhance crop management efficiency. Despite the current positive agricultural climate, with soybean yields surpassing historical averages, cotton farmers still face numerous challenges. These include managing resistant weeds, high-pressure pests affecting both corn and cotton crops, and the control of soybean target spot disease. Adama is committed to supporting farmers through technological innovation and professional assistance to improve field efficiency and ensure greater safety and profitability.
With this launch, Adama positions itself as a key player in the ongoing battle against agricultural challenges, ensuring that farmers have access to cutting-edge solutions for sustainable farming practices.
