Top 10 Global Powder Coating Companies in 2024: Chinese Brands Take Half the Spots
China dominates the 2024 global powder coating company rankings, with five Chinese companies securing top 10 positions. AkzoNobel, PPG, and Axalta still lead the pack, but Cosco Kansai, Dongfang Resin, Nippon China, Huarun, and Carpoly are hot on their heels.
Cosco Kansai surged to 4th place globally with over RMB 2.8 billion in 2023 sales, achieving more than 10% growth in its powder coating business. The company continues to expand production capacity with multiple new plants, strengthening its foothold in high-performance coatings.
Dongfang Resin and Nippon China also posted stellar results, each ranking among the global top six. Dongfang has carved out a strong presence in the industrial segment with sales exceeding RMB 2.6 billion. Nippon, meanwhile, is gaining traction in automotive parts and home appliance sectors, reaching nearly RMB 2.4 billion in powder revenue.
Huarun and Carpoly’s entries into the top 10 reflect China’s rapid progress in premium market segments. Both companies are not only expanding capacity but also investing in R&D and eco-friendly technologies, winning over multinational clients.
Despite a cooling global market, Chinese brands are redefining the powder coating landscape through local agility, cost efficiency, and green innovation. Industry watchers believe that within three to five years, a Chinese company could break into the top three and reshape the global hierarchy.
