Sumitomo Seika Chemicals to Sell Powder Resin Business at Chiba Plant
Sumitomo Seika Chemicals Co., Ltd. announced that it will stop production and sales of polyethylene powder resin products and polypropylene powder resin products at its Chiba Plant in March 2027.
The operating environment for the two products has become increasingly severe due to factors such as the sluggish market and rising raw material prices.
Although the company has taken various measures such as improving productivity and adjusting prices, it still believes that it is difficult to ensure the income required to maintain the business in the medium and long term.
The product will stop accepting orders in September 2025 and is scheduled to stop selling in March 2027.
Through these efforts, Sumitomo Seika Chemicals will promote the plan to "build a resilient business structure", which is one of the priority initiatives proposed in the medium-term business plan.
