BASF to Acquire Alsachimie Shares
BASF and DOMO Chemicals have signed an agreement giving BASF the right to acquire DOMO Chemicals’ 49% stake in the Alsachimie joint venture, subject to consultation with the relevant social institutions of Alsachimie in accordance with applicable laws, after which the two companies will sign a binding acquisition agreement.BASF and DOMO Chemicals expect the transaction to be completed by mid-2025, subject to negotiation.
For BASF, the full acquisition of Alsachimie will be an important strategic move aimed at strengthening its strong presence in Chalampé, France, its European production center for polyamide (PA) 6.6 precursors. As the sole owner of Alsachimie, BASF will be able to further strengthen its production structure and maximize backward integration of key raw materials in the PA 6.6 value chain.
"As a major supplier of polyamide 6.6 precursors, ensuring reliable supply in Europe is our top priority," said Stephan Kothrade, member of the BASF Executive Board. "By acquiring the stake of our partner DOMO, we will further strengthen our leading position and long-term commitment to the polyamide 6.6 value chain and pave the way for future growth together with customers in industries such as automotive and textiles."
"For DOMO, this transaction is in line with our strategy to continue to focus on customized polyamide solutions in our core areas of automotive, consumer goods, industry and electrical and electronics," said Yves Bonte, CEO of DOMO.
Alsachimie was established in February 2020 as a joint venture between BASF (51%) and DOMO Chemicals (49%). Located on the French-German border, the company produces important precursors for polyamides, including KA oil, adipic acid and hexamethylene adipate (AH salt).
