Hubergroup Launches India’s First Direct Food Contact Ink Production Facility
Hubergroup Print Solutions reached another major milestone in May with the inauguration of India’s first dedicated production facility for direct food contact (DFC) inks.
The state-of-the-art facility in Silvassa, completely isolated from other production areas, sets new standards for safety, sustainability and innovation in food packaging. As a supplier of printing inks and specialty chemicals, hubergroup not only strengthens its position in international markets, but also provides global quality solutionsto local companies.
The new plant produces the MGA CONTACT range of sheetfed inks developed specifically for direct food contact. These inks meet strict international safety standards and can be printed on the inside of paper and board packaging, simply by applying a dispersion varnish such as Hubergroup’s ACRYLAC DFC range. This opens up new design possibilities for packaging products such as chocolate, fruit and fast food, and supports the transition to more environmentally friendly paper solutions.
All raw materials used for production are carefully selected and the final inks are subject to strict quality control. The production process follows Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles, is designed to minimize carbon footprint and utilizes renewable materials.
“We are very happy about the opening of this new plant as it establishes our leading position in the Indian market,” said Prasanta Sarkar, Vice President, Technical Printing Solutions, Hubergroup India. “The mission of the new plant is clear: to make packaging safer, more sustainable and more innovative. Our DFC inks and varnishes meet stringent global safety standards and are designed with the environmental needs of people and the planet in mind.”
“This achievement is the result of the hard work of our global R&D team, partners and all our colleagues who share this vision. We are honored to apply this world-class technology in India and support local companies with global quality solutions,” said Premal Desai, CEO of hubergroup.
The opening of this dedicated production plant in Silvassa underscores hubergroup’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in the packaging industry. As a strategically important location in the company’s global network, the plant helps to increase supply security and provide tailor-made solutions to customers around the world.
