Skala and Lola From Rio Merge to Create a New Brazilian Cosmetics Giant
Brazilian haircare brands Skala and Lola From Rio, both known for their focus on curly hair products, are set to merge to create one of the largest groups in the Brazilian market. The deal was driven by investment company Advent International, which acquired a 50% stake in Skala in 2024.
Skala, known for its affordable products, has more than 18% of the Brazilian hair care market, making it the leading brand in terms of sales in this field. The brand is available in 76% of Brazilian retail stores and has grown at an average annual rate of 30% over the past eight years. More than 20% of its revenue comes from international markets, especially in the United States.
Lola From Rio is one of the pioneers of vegan haircare products in Brazil. Founded in 2011, the brand has seen sales increase more than sixfold in the past six years. Its products are sold online, in department stores, pharmacies and perfume shops. In addition to haircare products, Lola has also expanded into body care and home care.
The two brands form a group with a total turnover of approximately 307 million euros, reaching 54% of Brazilian households and selling products in more than 80 countries.
Skala and Lola From Rio will continue to operate independently and have their own headquarters, but they will share production facilities, distribution channels and innovation investments.
