Nippon Paint’s ¥3.5 Billion Tokyo Innovation Center Ready to Launch in July
On June 25, global coatings leader Nippon Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. announced that its state-of-the-art Tokyo Innovation Center will officially begin operations in July. Located in Minami-Shinagawa, Tokyo, the facility represents a ¥3.5 billion investment and is set to significantly enhance the company’s technological capabilities.
The center, situated at 4-1-15 Minami-Shinagawa in Tokyo Office Park, spans a total floor area of 9,929 square meters across five above-ground levels. Its core functions include laboratories, training centers, and conference rooms. Construction was completed in March 2025, with the facility now ready for full-scale operations following months of equipment installation and system testing.
As one of Nippon Paint’s largest global R&D hubs, the center features an open-plan design that eliminates traditional departmental barriers. This layout brings engineers from across the group together on a single floor to foster open communication, cross-functional collaboration, and accelerated innovation. The goal is to drive technological integration, boost productivity, and inspire groundbreaking ideas.
With this milestone, Nippon Paint aims to solidify its position as an industry leader, leveraging its new Tokyo Innovation Center to elevate its global research and development efforts.
