Venture Global Secures $15.1 Billion Financing for CP2 LNG Sets US Record with 28 Million Ton Capacity
Venture Global, Inc. (NYSE: VG) has reached a final investment decision on Phase 1 of its CP2 LNG project and the related CP Express pipeline, locking in a record-breaking $15.1 billion in project financing. This marks the largest-ever independent project financing in history, and the second largest overall after the company’s previous Plaquemines LNG deal.
Over $34 billion in commitments poured in from global banks, requiring no outside equity investors. CEO Mike Sabel noted, “In less than six years, we’ve taken three LNG projects to FID and raised over $80 billion in capital, a testament to our team’s execution and early-stage vision. CP2 will be the most advanced project of its kind upon FID, starting LNG deliveries in 2027.”
Phase 1 will deliver up to 28 million tons annually, with long-term sales agreements already inked across Europe, Asia, and beyond—solidifying the United States’ role in global energy security and meeting soaring LNG demand.
Major banks involved include Bank of America, Barclays, BBVA, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, ING, JPMorgan, Mizuho, MUFG, RBC, Scotiabank, SMBC, and Wells Fargo. ING and Santander led term and working loans, while BofA and Scotiabank oversaw equity bridge loans. Latham & Watkins advised Venture Global; Skadden, Arps counseled the lenders.
