China's Soda Ash Market Trend Weak (8.11-8.18)
August 19th, news:
I. Price Trends
According to the commodity analysis system, the price trend of soda ash continued to decline this week. As of August 18, the average market price of soda ash in China was 1,224 CNY/ton, a decrease of 28 CNY/ton compared to the price of 1,252 CNY/ton on August 11, representing a price decrease of 2.24%.
II. Market Analysis
Recent soda ash market trends have been weak. On the supply side, the number of companies undergoing maintenance has decreased, leading to an increase in soda ash production, with manufacturers focusing on active sales. Downstream demand has been lackluster, as the continuous weakness in glass prices has led to low procurement enthusiasm for soda ash. This has resulted in an accumulation of inventory among soda ash producers, with a clear trend of oversupply and weak demand, causing the price of soda ash to continue to decline. On August 18, in the East China region, the price of light soda ash was reduced by 10 CNY per ton, with the price range at 1,130-1,400 CNY per ton; in the Central China region, the price of light soda ash remained at 1,140-1,300 CNY per ton.
According to the commodity analysis system, the downstream glass market continues to decline. From August 11 to 18, the price of glass decreased from 15.05 yuan/square meter to 14.28 yuan/square meter, a decrease of 5.12%. The glass market capacity is operating stably, with inventory continuously increasing. Downstream demand is moderate, and the destocking of glass is slow. The shipment performance of enterprises is poor, leading to a weak downward trend in glass prices.
Future market forecast: Currently, the price trend of soda ash is declining, and market sentiment is bearish. In terms of inventory, manufacturers have limited shipments, leading to inventory accumulation. The downstream market is weak, providing insufficient support for soda ash. It is expected that the soda ash market will mainly operate weakly in the later period. Specific attention should be paid to the follow-up situation of the downstream market.
