Recent Soda Ash Market Trend in China is Weak and Consolidating
August 26, News
I. Price Trends
According to the commodity analysis system, the recent soda ash price trend has slightly decreased. As of August 25, the average market price of soda ash in China was 1,220 CNY/ton, a decrease of 4 CNY/ton compared to the price of 1,224 CNY/ton on August 19, representing a price decrease of 0.33%.
II. Market Analysis
Recent soda ash market trends in China have been weak. On the supply side, the operating rate has fluctuated slightly, with a small increase in soda ash production; manufacturers have maintained an active shipping strategy. In terms of demand, downstream buyers have shown low enthusiasm, and the glass market has remained relatively stable, with limited restocking needs from enterprises. Some soda ash producers have lowered their transaction prices to maintain shipments, but the overall supply-demand imbalance has not improved, leading to weak soda ash prices. On August 25, the price of light soda ash in the East China region remained at 1130-1400 CNY/ton; in the Central China region, the price of light soda ash was reduced by 10 CNY/ton, with a price range of 1130-1300 CNY/ton.
According to the commodity analysis system, the downstream glass market in China has shown a weak downward trend. From August 19 to 25, the price of glass decreased from 14.28 yuan/square meter to 13.83 yuan/square meter, a decrease of 3.15%. The production lines in the glass market are operating stably, and the inventory of enterprises has increased. There is insufficient follow-up on downstream orders, and enterprises mainly ship goods according to demand. Market transactions are limited, and the price of glass continues to decline weakly.
For the future market forecast, the current soda ash price trend is declining. The sentiment among industry players is relatively weak, and downstream buyers have low inventory replenishment intentions, purchasing only based on rigid demand. Inventories of soda ash producers are accumulating, with supply exceeding demand in the fundamentals. It is expected that the soda ash market will remain weak and consolidate, and specific attention should be paid to the follow-up situation from downstream sectors.
