November Activated Carbon Prices Rise in China

According to the commodity market analysis system: At the beginning of the month, the price of activated carbon in China was 12,633 CNY/ton, and at the end of the month, it was 12,800 CNY/ton, with a price increase of 1.32%.

Chinese activated carbon manufacturers' quotes have risen this month. The factory price for coconut shell activated carbon used in water purification (with an iodine value of 1000) is between 11,000 and 13,500 CNY per ton. Steady growth in demand from traditional sectors such as water treatment in China, coupled with the increasing demand for hard carbon anodes driven by the industrialization of sodium-ion batteries, has directly boosted the import demand for high-purity coconut shell carbon.

Currently, the supply of raw materials is tight. The main production areas in Southeast Asia have been affected by natural disasters and adjustments in planting structures, leading to a decrease in coconut production and a shortage of carbonized material supply. The increase in processing enterprises in the producing areas has intensified competition, causing raw material prices to rise. In October, the import volume of fruit shell charcoal into China was 14,652.8 tons, a 9% decrease from the previous month but an 11% increase year-over-year.

Forecast: The demand for coconut shell activated carbon in China is expected to increase, and it is predicted that the price of activated carbon may mainly follow a strong fluctuating trend in the short term.
