This week, the TDI market in China showed a strong upward trend (12.8-12.12)
December 12 news
According to the commodity market analysis system, the TDI market in the East China region showed a strong upward trend this week. As of December 12, the average market price in the East China region was 14,866 CNY/ton, compared to 14,666 CNY/ton on December 8, with a weekly price increase of 1.36%, and a year-on-year increase of 15.25%.
This week, the TDI market in China maintained an upward trend. As of this Friday, the offer price for domestically produced TDI in East China was between 14,400 to 14,800 CNY per ton; the offer price for Shanghai goods was around 14,800 to 15,000 CNY per ton. During the week, the market supply remained tight, with frequent reports of major manufacturers raising prices and tight supply. Suppliers took a firmer stance on maintaining prices, while traders continued to sell steadily. Despite the lackluster demand, the TDI market showed a strong push for higher prices.
Supply side: The TDI unit of Wanhua in Fujian is operating at reduced load; the TDI unit of Covestro in Shanghai has been shut down for maintenance; a TDI unit in South China has encountered an anomaly and is expected to be temporarily shut down for at least one week.
Cost perspective: The toluene market in China is stable for the time being, with relatively calm trading activities. Demand is flat, and the market trend remains stable this week.
In terms of future market analysis, TDI data analysts believe that downstream buyers are currently showing a clear reluctance toward high-priced supplies and are adopting a cautious approach to entering the market, making it difficult for transaction volumes to increase significantly. Meanwhile, positive factors on the supply side continue to intensify. Therefore, it is expected that the TDI market will maintain a relatively strong trend in the short term.
