Children's medicine receives top-level policy support

2021-07-08

On August 27, the official website of the National Health Commission released the "Third Batch of Suggested List of Drugs to Encourage R&D and Declaration for Children", which contains 34 drugs, including some familiar and commonly used drugs such as diazepam, aspirin and lidocaine.

Up to now, China has issued three batches of a total of 105 kinds of R & D to encourage the declaration of children's drugs, in order to gradually improve the lack of special drug formulations for children in China, to better meet the needs of pediatric clinical use. It is no coincidence that the 12th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress recently voted to adopt the newly revised "Drug Administration Law", which clearly provides for effective measures to encourage the development and innovation of drugs for children, support the development of new varieties, dosage forms and specifications of drugs for children in line with the physiological characteristics of children, and give priority to the review and approval of drugs for children. In addition, the National Health Insurance Bureau recently released the "National Basic Medical Insurance, Work Injury Insurance and Maternity Insurance Drug Catalog", children's drugs have also become a priority to cover the new categories.
