2. Market Analysis

In February, the Chinese titanium dioxide market was mainly stable. In the first ten days, the demand for titanium dioxide was average, with a slightly quiet trading atmosphere, and prices remained stable. During the mid-month Spring Festival holiday, the market came to a halt. In the latter part of the month, there was a strong expectation for price increases, and three chloride process companies—Tianyuan, Xianghai, and Zhongxin—successively issued letters announcing price hikes, with the price of chloride process titanium dioxide in China increasing by 500 CNY per ton. So far, the price of sulfate process rutile titanium dioxide in China is mostly between 13,200 and 14,300 CNY per ton; the price of anatase type is around 12,200 to 12,800 CNY per ton, with actual transaction prices negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

According to customs data, China exported 171,800 tons of titanium dioxide in December 2025, a year-on-year increase of 8.49% and a month-on-month increase of 12.88%. Among these, 127,700 tons were exported using the sulfate process, a month-on-month increase of 8.49%; and 44,200 tons were exported using the chloride process, a month-on-month increase of 27.83%. From January to December 2025, China exported a total of approximately 1,816,900 tons of titanium dioxide, a year-on-year decrease of 4.46%, or about 84,800 tons less. This is the first decline in annual export volume since 2016. Among these, 366,500 tons were exported using the chloride process, a year-on-year increase of 5.95%; and 1,450,500 tons were exported using the sulfate process, a year-on-year decrease of 6.77%.

According to customs data, in December 2025, China imported 6,691.21 tons of titanium dioxide, a decrease of 7.71% year-over-year and an increase of 25.27% month-over-month. Among these, 3,549.67 tons were imported using the chloride process, a decrease of 7.41% month-over-month, and 3,141.54 tons were imported using the sulfate process, a decrease of 2.49% month-over-month. For the period from January to December 2025, the total import of titanium dioxide was 74,500 tons, a decrease of 18.92% year-over-year. Of this, 30,200 tons were imported using the sulfate process, a decrease of 3.99% year-over-year, and 44,400 tons were imported using the chloride process, a decrease of 26.67% year-over-year.

III. Future Market Forecast

Titanium dioxide analysts believe: This month, titanium dioxide companies in China have a strong desire for price increases and are mostly waiting and observing, particularly looking to the plans of leading enterprises. The market is currently in a temporary stalemate and consolidation phase. It is expected that some titanium dioxide prices may rise in March.
