Added 75,000 tons/year! Toray boosts production capacity of transparent ABS in Malaysia factory
On August 17, Toray announced that through the establishment of the latest facility in Prai Industrial Park, Penang, Malaysia, Toray Group has increased its famous TOYOLAC® acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) transparent resin globally. Production and distribution capabilities, and officially put into production.
It is understood that the plant has increased Toray Plastics (Malaysia) Co., Ltd.'s ABS resin production and distribution capacity by 75,000 tons/year to 425,000 tons/year. Taking into account the ABS output of the Chiba plant in Japan, the Toray Group is currently able to produce about 497,000 tons of ABS per year.
Toray Group’s ABS resin TOYOLAC includes various TOYOLAC high-performance products such as transparent grade, antistatic grade, excellent coating grade, and anti-corrosion enhanced grade. Its main expansion targets include Europe and the United States in addition to the Chinese and Asian markets. And the Indian market.
In order to effectively respond to the increasing demand for transparent ABS resin and further improve the stability of supply, Toray will continue to further strengthen the mutual assistance and cooperation between the ABS resin production base of Toray Chiba Plant in Japan and the TPM production base in Malaysia. Promote global business expansion.
Different from ordinary ABS, transparent grade ABS adds acrylic resin (MMA) to three components to become acrylonitrile (AN), acrylic resin (MMA), butadiene (BD), styrene ( SM) Copolymer formed by polymerization of four raw materials. Transparent ABS has the characteristics of high transparency, high hardness, high rigidity, high impact strength, etc. Generally speaking, the light transmittance of transparent ABS can reach about 90.
Therefore, ABS has a wide range of uses, and it can be seen in electronic appliances such as vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, toys, etc., as well as furniture and medical products.
