Suspension of service, price soaring 10 times! The sky-high freight rate is coming!
The peak season is approaching, and a box is hard to find.
On August 26, the Ministry of Commerce stated at a press conference that due to the continued spread of the global epidemic, rising prices of international bulk commodities, and structural imbalances in global transportation capacity, some raw materials prices are at high levels, with high freight rates and insufficient capacity. obvious.
Tight transportation capacity and high freight rates have become a global phenomenon. At present, the Ministry of Commerce has cooperated with the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the State Administration of Market Supervision to provide assistance for enterprise transportation and container supply issues. Local departments also help companies reduce costs.
According to Freightos data, the price of a 40-foot container from China to the West Coast of the United States is now $15,800. The price has increased by 50% from last month and 10 times before the epidemic!
The reason for the impact on shipping freight is nothing more than the Suez Canal accident and the sudden outbreak of the epidemic, which led to the emergency closure of the port and terminal, a large number of ships congested and difficult to reach their destinations, resulting in a backlog of port ships, extended unloading periods, and a large number of containers. Finally, no ships were feasible. The situation of no containers is available, triggering a skyrocketing freight rate.
As of mid-August, there are still a lot of port congestion in the United States, New Zealand, Vietnam, India and other countries.
Today, Maersk, Mediterranean, CMA CGM and other shipping companies have released September prices.
September shipping prices increase
Maersk: Starting from September 15th, the increase will be $178 per 20-foot dry container, $229 per 40-foot dry container, $260 per 45-foot high container, and $214/275 per 20-foot/40-foot cold container.
Mediterranean Shipping: Starting from September 1st (the day of unloading at the port of destination), it will be charged USD 800 per 20-foot container, USD 1,000 per 40-foot container, USD 1125 per 40-foot tall container, and USD 1,266 per 45-foot container.
CMA CGM: Starting from September 5, an overweight surcharge (OWS) from Asia and India to the east coast of South America will be levied, 300 USD/20-foot dry container, and the gross weight of the container is equal to or more than 18 tons.
The Ministry of Transport last week issued amendments to the administrative penalties for inland waters, prohibiting other dangerous chemicals transported through inland waters. It is expected to affect land transportation prices.
Transport companies: Insufficient capacity, suspension of services during peak seasons!
As we are about to enter the peak season of Gold, Nine, and Silver, port congestion in the Asia-Pacific region will increase the impact of cross-industry and cross-regional maritime and inland transportation.
▶Maersk said: Before "October" is the peak of shipments (September), combined with the port congestion in the Asia-Pacific region, this year's Golden Week may increase the impact of cross-industry and cross-regional shipping and inland transportation. Customers are advised to book containers as soon as possible and plan the delivery time in advance.
▶Inside the shipping alliance: a blank sailing plan may be launched in October, which means that October will enter a state of suspension of services, which also shows that the freight cannot be reduced in the short term.
The transportation cost is under pressure, and Jinjiuyinshi is ready to take the move!
In the peak season, many shipping companies have increased surcharges, increased container freight rates, and the spread of the epidemic disrupted the supply chain, which is expected to affect my country's import and export plans for relevant raw materials during the peak season. Shipping prices are difficult to lower in the short term, tangibly increasing the prices of imported chemical raw materials, and congestion has prolonged the delivery of raw materials, or caused downstream manufacturers to purchase domestic products and increase domestic chemical and land transportation costs. Jin Jiu is coming, everyone is ready to take the move!
