Avery Dennison Buys Medical Supplier Finesse
Avery Dennison Corp. has acquired Finesse Medical Ltd, a Longford, Ireland-based business specializing in the development and manufacture of healthcare products for wound care and skin conditions, including polyurethane foam and PU film for wound dressings.
Finesse supplies its products to healthcare OEMs around the world, as well as offering contract manufacturing and product development services. Its revenues last year were about 15 million euros ($16.8 million).
"Finesse Medical is a top quality manufacturer with a strong track record for developing and commercialising effective, high-value products in the medical sector," said Mitch Butier, president and CEO of Glendale, Calif.-based Avery Dennison. "This acquisition will accelerate the achievement of our long-term strategic and financial goals for our industrial and healthcare materials segment."
Avery Dennison is already active in the healthcare field via its Vancive Medical Technologies business, which offers adhesives, hydrocolloids and barrier film products.
"Finesse Medical is a great strategic fit with Vancive Medical Technologies," said Mike Johansen, vice president and general manager of the company's industrial and healthcare materials group. "Its innovative portfolio of silicone gels and polyurethane foam dressings builds on and complements our existing products in wound care. And its converting and packaging capabilities will enable us to offer expanded manufacturing services to our customers."
