BASF sells precision microchemistry business to Entegris

ECHEMI 2021-10-29

On October 27, BASF and Entegris signed an agreement to sell the precision microchemistry business to Entegris for US$90 million. The transaction includes technology, intellectual property and trademarks and is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.

The precision microchemistry business is part of the surface treatment business unit of BASF's coatings division and operates under the Chemetall brand. It develops, manufactures and sells high-purity materials, including clean chemical and chemical mechanical planarization pastes for electronic material processing and surface conditioning. This product is mainly used to clean and polish hard disks and wide-band gap semiconductor ultra-hard surface materials, including silicon carbide for power electronics and advanced communications. This business will become a part of Ente Grist's chemical and engineering materials division.
