More than 4,000 have been reduced! Jiangsu reissues a notice: more than 200 chemical plants will continue to be shut down this year

ECHEMI 2021-11-04

This year, the whole province of Jiangsu will continue to close and exit low-end and low-efficiency chemical production enterprises, and plan to close more than 200 more, so as to ensure that all chemical enterprises in environmentally sensitive areas will be shut down before the end of this year.

This year is a turning point for Jiangsu's chemical industry from remediation to upgrading. Jiangsu enterprises aim at the requirements of intensified layout, green production, and high-end products, to create a batch of national leading new technologies and new products, and a large number of them are shutting down. At the same time as small chemical enterprises, the competitiveness of the chemical industry has risen against the trend.

Intensive layout, green production, high-end products

The scale and profit of Jiangsu's chemical industry increase simultaneously

Recycling and efficient use of carbon dioxide is currently a global problem. Recently, China and Iceland have jointly built the world’s first "carbon dioxide-based photovoltaic material" project officially signed. The project will be located in the Lianyungang National Petrochemical Base. 150,000 tons of carbon dioxide is equivalent to the annual carbon dioxide emissions of 15 large petrochemical plants in the base. Through the deep processing of upstream and downstream integrated devices, the recovered carbon dioxide can "turn waste into treasure" and produce 20,000 tons of the core component raw materials for photovoltaic panels. These materials can produce 50 million square meters of photovoltaic film, all of which are used for photovoltaics. After power generation, the installed capacity can reach 5GW, which can generate 6-9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity a year, which is equivalent to the annual power generation capacity of two million-kilowatt thermal power plants.

Bai Wei, general manager of Shenghong Group Serbon Petrochemical, said: "The scale of this project is to generate 100,000 tons of green methanol annually. This scale is currently the world's largest scale and can form a green closed circuit and industrial circular chain in an industrialized plant. "

In the context of carbon peaks, Jiangsu's chemical industry is seeking to transform into a supplier of green new materials. Hengli Petrochemical’s “Biodegradable New Material Project”, which was launched almost at the same time as Shenghong Serbon’s “Carbon Dioxide Photovoltaic Materials” project, relies on self-developed process technology, relying on the advantages of the chemical industry park’s raw materials and supporting facilities, with an annual output of 450,000 tons Biodegradable plastics, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the world's largest production base for degradable new materials will be built. At present, the annual research and development expenses of Jiangsu regulated chemical companies exceed 20 billion yuan, and there are nearly a thousand innovation platforms at or above the provincial level. In recent years, the research and development of new energy and new material products ranks first in the country.

In Zhangjiagang Jiangsu Yangtze River International Chemical Industrial Park, the upstream and downstream equipment of enterprises settled in each other complement each other. It is a circular economy pilot park in Jiangsu Province. It is building an efficient and green integrated industrial chain and is known as a model for the simultaneous development of economic construction and ecological construction along the river. , And more than 90% of the enterprises in the park are regulated enterprises.

Jiangsu continues to shut down 200 low-end and low-efficiency chemical companies this year

In recent years, Jiangsu Chemical has suppressed low-end and low-efficiency production capacity and closed 4,626 chemical companies in total. The total number has dropped from nearly 7,000 to 2,169, and chemical parks have been reduced from 54 to 29.

Liu Hua, deputy director of the Materials Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, said: “This year, the province will continue to close and exit low-end and low-efficiency chemical production enterprises, and plan to close more than 200 more. All production will be shut down by the end of this year. We must rely on innovation to drive the high-end development of the chemical industry, create a number of national leading new technologies, materials, new products and new technologies, and realize the progress of a major chemical province into a strong chemical province."

While large-scale reduction of low-end and low-efficiency production capacity, energy conservation and emission reduction, the concentration of Jiangsu's chemical industry has further increased this year. Relying on scale advantages and new technologies and products, chemical sales revenue and total profits have increased by nearly 20% year-on-year.
