Five aspects of work should be done well in methanol industry this year

On April 18, Gu Zongqin, chairman of China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, pointed out at the 2019 China Methanol Industry Congress held in Shanghai that in 2019, facing the complex and changeable international environment and the realistic pressure of the domestic economic downturn, the whole industry should firmly grasp the general tone of "striving for progress in a stable way", adhere to the supply-side structural reform as the main line, and speed up the festival. It can promote environmental protection, safe production, circular economy and comprehensive utilization of resources, and promote high-quality, efficient development of the industry. Gu Zongqin stressed that the methanol industry in China should do five specific tasks this year:

First, to guide rational capacity growth. Gu Zongqin said that in recent years, with the continuous development of new downstream products and the warming of market prices, China's methanol production capacity has increased steadily, and with the upgrading of industry technology and equipment level, the trend of large-scale new installation is remarkable, with 1 million tons/grade and 1.8 million tons/grade projects at every turn. Large-scale coal chemical projects have high investment and energy consumption, which have a great impact on the market and industry. In project planning and construction, we should be cautious and cautious, restrain impulse, fully and comprehensively consider resources, environment, market and other factors to avoid blindly following the trend. Adhering to the requirements of "carrying capacity according to one's ability, measuring water and measuring environmental carrying capacity", it is strictly prohibited to build or expand methanol plants in areas sensitive to ecological environment, lack of water resources and shortage of raw material resources.

The second is to promote the development of downstream products with energy attributes. Gu Zongqin pointed out that the continuous development of downstream products has provided a sustained demand impetus for the development of the industry. Methanol fuel has undoubtedly become another potential downstream application after coal (methanol) to olefins. However, there are still many irregularities in methanol vehicle fuels and boiler fuels, especially stove fuels. The relevant standard system is not perfect and the supervision means is not perfect, which is a grey area with serious potential safety hazards. Gu Zongqin stressed that accelerating the improvement of industrial policies, technical standards and market application safeguard system is the focus and key of the next step. The publication of Guidelines on Car Application of Methanol in Some Areas has provided favorable policy support for the development and application of methanol as downstream products with energy attributes. At the same time, it has also put forward the requirements for promoting the healthy development of methanol fuel, such as the establishment of a sound quality control and safety management system for methanol fuel production, storage, transportation and other links. It supports the formulation of relevant standards such as technical requirements for methanol benchmark fuels on the basis of existing national, industrial and group standards, improves the standards for Methanol Fuels and filling systems, studies and formulates standards for design and construction of vehicle methanol fuel filling stations, safety standards for vehicle methanol fuel operation, special filling machines for methanol fuels, methanol fuel additives, etc. These also provide a reference for the standardized development of Methanol Fuels for boilers and stoves, and help to actively promote the formulation and implementation of relevant group standards, local standards and industry standards.

The third is to guide enterprises to rationally arrange product structure. Gu Zongqin pointed out that methanol production enterprises should broaden their horizons, broaden their horizons, fully tap their own advantages and investigate the market situation in depth. Whether in the development of downstream products with high added value or starting from syngas, enterprises have a lot of articles to do in order to expand the industrial chain and improve product added value and market competitiveness. We should actively transform to modern coal chemical industry and fine coal chemical industry, devote ourselves to the development of high value-added downstream products of coal chemical industry, such as differentiated, individualized and high-end fine chemical products, high-end chemicals and new chemical materials, to extend the industrial chain and expand the industrial field. For example, metallocene polyolefins and alpha-high carbon copolyolefins are still mainly dependent on imported high-end resin materials, high-performance engineering plastics and high-performance surfactants, as well as carbon-monochemical products and their derivatives based on syngas.

Fourth is to grasp the safety and environmental protection work and not relax. Gu Zongqin said that the recent safety accidents, heavy casualties, caused serious economic losses, social impact and environmental impact, but also once again sounded the alarm for us: safety in production is no trivial matter, prevention is the key. Any safety accident is caused by people's unsafe behavior, material unsafe state and management irregularity, and any unsafe accident can also be prevented. This requires enterprises to firmly establish the concept of safety and the idea of safety first, focus on preventing and curbing major accidents, strictly adhere to the safety bottom line, strengthen process control, safety risk management and emergency management and disposal capabilities, and ensure safe production. Gu Zongqin said that at the beginning of this year, China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association and Petrochemical Federation jointly launched the "Special Action Investigation Activity on Safety and Environmental Protection Promotion in Nitrogen Fertilizer and Methanol Industries", and conducted safety and environmental protection surveys on Hualu Hengsheng Chemical Industry in Shandong Province and Linggu Chemical Industry in Jiangsu Province. Li Shousheng, president of the Petrochemical Federation, attached great importance to the event and personally participated in and guided it. This activity also made me feel deeply. On the one hand, I feel that safety production is endless. Hualu Hengsheng and Linggu Chemicals, as the first-class enterprises in the industry, still have room for further improvement and improvement. On the other hand, this type of safety investigation work has further significance. Unlike the supervision and inspection of the safety and environmental protection departments, more self-examination and mutual inspection activities can be carried out, in line with the principle of strict, detailed and high-level supervision of the industry.
