three favorable conditions for the development of foreign trade this year

Beijing, May 27 Xinhua Ministry of Commerce recently released "China's Foreign Trade Situation Report (Spring 2019)" pointed out that in the first quarter of this year, China's foreign trade was generally stable and its structure continued to optimize. The situation of foreign trade development in the whole year is complex and severe, and uncertain and unstable factors are increasing. However, we should also see that China's foreign trade development still has strong support and there are three favorable conditions.

Firstly, the environment of foreign trade policy has been continuously optimized. In recent years, China has implemented an active import promotion strategy, actively expanding imports and promoting balanced development of foreign trade. In 2019, China will step up its efforts to support the import of advanced technology, important equipment and key components, further improve policies and measures such as parallel import of automobiles, and add impetus to the expansion of imports.

Secondly, domestic high-quality development drives foreign trade to improve steadily. At present, China's economy has changed from a high-speed growth stage to a high-quality development stage. The Chinese government adheres to the supply-side structural reform as the main line to promote domestic economic transformation, upgrading and industrial restructuring, and to promote China's industry to the middle and high end of the global value chain. The upgrading of domestic industries and the rapid development of strategic emerging industries drive the import and export of related products and technologies, and promote the optimization of foreign trade structure.

Thirdly, the adjustment of foreign trade structure and the acceleration of power transformation. The Chinese government has steadfastly promoted the construction of a powerful trading country and the optimization and development of its foreign trade structure. We will vigorously promote the transformation and upgrading of processing trade, support the central and Western and northeastern regions to undertake gradient transfer, and promote the development of new formats such as bonded maintenance of processing trade. We will continue to cultivate new advantages in foreign trade, tap the endogenous driving force of foreign trade development, and firmly promote 35 cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones and 14 pilot market procurement trade modes. The new mode of foreign trade is becoming a new driving force for stable growth of foreign trade. The report points out that, looking ahead to the whole year of 2019, the environment facing China's foreign trade development is still complex and severe. At the same time, we should also see that China's endogenous power in foreign trade is constantly increasing. With various measures to support stable scale, quality and rotational power of foreign trade, the policy effect will continue to show.
