2017 Xinjiang Spinning Capacity Expected to Be 17-18 Million Spindles
Textile industry welcomes peak of development now in Xinjiang. According related report, there are around 34 textile companies in Bazhou now, up by 16 in 2016, with spinning capacity under construction at 4.5 million spindles and capacity having started operation at 3.30 million spindles. Demand for cotton was around 180kt in Bazhou and may rise to 220kt in 2017. Three large textile mills there focus on producing rayon yarn.
Alear Industrial Park introduced 179 companies, and there were 25 textile mills, with capacity at 1.48 million spindles and capacity having started operation at 0.57 million spindles. Cotton yarn production totaled around 96kt in 2016, and cotton consumption stayed at 80kt, which may rise to 120kt in 2017.
As for textile display in Xinjiang, related market player from domestic market stated that current spinning capacity in Xinjiang is around 13.60 million spindles, which is to rise to 20 million spindles by 2020. Textile capacity expansion in Xinjiang is faster than earlier plan. Spinning capacity in Xinjiang is expected to be 17-18 million spindles by end-2017, and reach 20 million spindles by the first half of 2018. Cotton consumption will be around 1500kt/year in Xinjiang by that time. Specific tempo still needs further observation.
