Switzerland Updates National Substances List

Chemical Watch 2017-06-27

Switzerland has updated the list of substances notified or registered in the country, with 385 additions in June.

New substances manufactured or imported into the country, in a volume greater than one tonne per year, must be notified to the Swiss Chemicals Notification Authority, before they can go on the market. This is also the case for those already registered in the EU.

The Swiss Federation updates the list twice a year – in January and June. The substances are pooled, once the evaluation units have accepted the notification or the authority have deemed a registration complete.

The list serves to inform Swiss manufacturers and actual or potential notifiers.

The list now has 1,345 notifications and registrations for 1,276 different substances, the federation said.
