Bamboo Plastic Materials: a New Type Of Composite Material With Many Applications
Bamboo Plastic Composite (BPC for short) is a new type of composite material with a variety of applications made from pre-treated and modified bamboo sawdust, bamboo shavings or bamboo residue as the main raw material, mixed with molten thermoplastic resins (mainly PE, PP, PVC, etc.) in a certain ratio, under the action of additives, through high-temperature mixing and moulding processes.
It is a new type of composite material with many applications.
In the composition of bamboo-plastic composites, the base material is resin and bamboo fibres are used as reinforcement materials to improve the physical properties of plastics, to recycle waste plastics and to improve the ecological environment.

The main applications of bamboo-plastic laminates: The range of application of bamboo-plastic laminates is relatively wide, with a wide selection of products. Currently, they are mainly used in tree boxes, outdoor decking, indoor flooring and outdoor decorative handrails.
The bamboo-plastic composite panels can be sawn, planed and nailed, and have good processing properties, overcoming the shortcomings of natural wood, such as poor durability, flammability, moisture and decay.
Compared to wood, it has good isotropy, weather resistance and dimensional stability, and is not afraid of insects, fungus, strong acids and alkalis, does not absorb water, is not easily deformed and has good mechanical properties.
Compared to plastic, it is suitable for all kinds of wood processing methods, the surface is easy to decorate, can be printed, painted, sprayed and laminated, and the product is recyclable and environmentally friendly.
