Shell to partner with Keyera to develop low-carbon projects in Alberta

ECHEMI 2022-03-18

Keyera Corp. said on Tuesday it had agreed to work with Shell Canada Ltd. on a potential low-carbon project in Alberta, the ICIS-MRC website reported on March 16, Moscow, according to MarketWatch.

Keyera said the two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding that will leverage existing assets and adjacent land to achieve low-carbon targets and attract new investment opportunities for the region.

In addition, Keyera will use existing pipelines to deliver hydrogen to the region's hydrogen manufacturing and distribution network, which the company says is another opportunity for decarbonization operations.

Keyera and Shell will explore opportunities for a future open-access collection and distribution network to transport captured CO2 from Keyera and other operations in the region to Shell's proposed Polaris CCS storage center, the company said.
