Force majeure
In addition to Jinpu Titanium, a number of leading chemical companies have declared force majeure and are unable to predict when they will resume. Among them, chemical giants such as BASF and ExxonMobil could not escape from the force majeure exception.
BASF issued a notice letter that, in view of the Shanghai epidemic problems, the company's production base in Pudong BASF base closed control one after another, the current notice for March 28 to April 5, but according to the current Shanghai epidemic and logistics control policy, there is still a lot of uncertainty! This may lead to supply delays and disruptions!
At the same time, BASF has also announced force majeure for MDI at its US regional plants. According to BASF's latest news, the force majeure is still difficult to lift as of now.
Centurion declared a force majeure on production at its plant in Terneuzen, the Netherlands, at the beginning of April 2022.
In an official statement to customers, ExxonMobil said it plans to shut down part of its Singapore plant in April due to unforeseen external market factors that have severely impacted the company's business.
Older units, including a 480,000 t/y PP line and a 600,000 t/y LLDPE unit, could be affected, as could a new 650,000 t/y LLDPE line.
In addition to the frequency of force majeure, another large number of installations are in a period of stoppage for maintenance or are about to undergo a period of maintenance, which will undoubtedly bring a more tense state to the market supply.
