Syensqo Launches AI-Developed Coffee Peptide for Scalp Care

ECHEMI 2026-03-26

Syensqo has announced the launch of an AI-developed coffee peptide ingredient, Re2 Coffea Arabica Peptide, designed for scalp care. The ingredient was developed by Bota Biosciences and is derived from upcycled coffee grounds sourced from Pu’er, Yunnan Province, China.

The product is developed using an AI-driven biomanufacturing platform. By analyzing coffee proteins, functional peptide sequences are identified and screened, and then produced through enzymatic processing.

According to the company, this coffee peptide delivers multiple benefits for scalp care, including improving scalp hydration, enhancing softness, strengthening the skin barrier, and reducing transepidermal water loss. It can also help alleviate scalp redness and discomfort.

The company stated that the launch aims to meet the growing consumer demand for scalp hydration and soothing care, while aligning with the trend of “skinification” in the hair care sector.

In addition, the launch reflects further progress in the collaboration between Syensqo and Bota Biosciences in AI-driven biomanufacturing.
