The more anemia the elderly get, the more they are diagnosed with colon cancer.

On August 13, Changsha Evening News reported that Xiang Bingyun, 66, had moderate anemia. After insisting on eating a large amount of blood-tonifying food, the anemia became more and more serious. Recently, she was diagnosed with colon cancer after further examination at Changsha Third Hospital. Experts reminded that anemia can not only rely on self-supplementation or medicine, should be timely to the hospital for further blood routine examination, clear the cause of disease and symptomatic treatment, in order to avoid delays in the disease.
A year ago, Xiang Ding was found to have moderate anemia during physical examination. Therefore, she eats some food such as pig liver, red dates and so on every day to supplement blood. Recently, the elderly feel weak all over the body, think it is caused by diabetes, they came to the Third Hospital of Changsha Endocrinology and Metabolism Department to see a doctor. After completing the relevant examinations, the results showed that severe iron deficiency anemia had developed, and then transferred to hematology oncology department. Sheng Giumei, director of the Department of Hematology and Oncology, found that the duration of anemia was long. The routine blood test showed that hemoglobin was 60 grams/liter, only half of the normal people, not like ordinary anemia. After enteroscopy, Xiangdong was diagnosed as colon cancer.
Sheng Giumei reminds that some patients with colon cancer have no typical symptoms such as abdominal pain, abdominal distention, constipation and diarrhea alternately in the early stage, and are easy to be missed diagnosis. Cancer cell infiltration destroys the mucosa and submucosal blood vessels of the inner wall of the colon, resulting in chronic blood loss. Therefore, many patients are found to have colon cancer because of iron deficiency anemia. "In fact, if colon cancer can be detected early and treated actively, the probability of cure is very high. The 5-year survival rate of stage I is more than 90%. Sheng Giumei reminds us that if we find that we often have constipation, bloody stool and mucus stool, anemia, emaciation, weakness, abdominal pain, abdominal distension and other symptoms of unknown causes, we should not be careless, should seek medical treatment in time, improve enteroscopy. < div> < div> Prevention of colon cancer is mainly to prohibit smoking and alcohol, exercise properly, develop good eating habits, eat more crude fiber food, try not to eat processed red meat, fried food, barbecue and so on. Regular physical examination is very important. People over 45 years of age should undergo a colonoscopy. Those with a history of colon cancer in their immediate relatives should undergo regular colonoscopy.
