Pork prices soared to the highest level in history

August continued to be hot and hot, this should be the off-season pork market, prices should have fallen. But this year, the situation is extremely unusual. Recently, the price of pork in Jiujiang has risen against the trend, by nearly 50%. Many citizens have been calling out "unable to eat".
Pork prices have risen by more than 50% and sales have dropped sharply
Recently, reporters saw in some agricultural markets in Jiujiang that ordinary pork has recently been sold at about 44 yuan per kilogram, and only about 26 yuan per kilogram at the beginning of August. The rise in pig prices has a direct impact on pork sales. Nie Lixuan, a self-employed pig farmer in Tao wa farm, has sold pork for more than 6 years in the market. In his memory, pork has risen to more than 40 yuan a kilogram. Pork prices have been rising slowly since August this year. From the beginning of August to now, they have risen by about 14 yuan per kilogram. One price a day, wholesale pork is out of stock in the market. He also feels that the price of pork is too high. However, even if the price of pork is so high, there will still be a shortage of supply and demand. Nie Boss said, "In the past, 300 kilograms of meat could be sold every day, but now the number of people who buy pork has decreased significantly. The sales of pork in one day are only one third of the original." The owner of the tour, who is not far from his neighbour, also feels the same way. "Some time ago, he could sell 500 kilograms, but now he can sell two or three hundred kilograms." This is a big blow for their businessmen, who expect pork prices to continue to rise because of shrinking pig stocks, inadequate production capacity, record high purchase prices for live pigs, and rising retail pork prices. In the process of visiting Wanjiahui Living Supermarket in Lianxi District, reporters found that many citizens asked about the price of meat and left with shopping carts. Jiang Kunbao, the only pork stall owner in the supermarket, said, "Now the citizens are asking questions and leaving. People who used to buy two kilos of meat may only buy one kilo now, and many people go to buy chicken, duck and fish. Ms. Wang, a citizen, is one of them. "I bought a kilo of multi-skinned pork and spent 24.7 yuan. I can't afford it anymore." It used to be stewed at least once a week, but now it is occasionally replaced by fish soup or chicken soup. In an interview with Mr. Qi, a citizen who came to buy meat, told reporters that now pork is expensive and everybody eats very little. Every time she comes, she buys a little pork and eats eggs instead. She hopes that the price of meat in Jiujiang can be reduced to acceptable level for the common people.
The number of live pigs in the whole city has decreased sharply due to two factors
The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Bureau of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine told reporters that under the influence of supply and demand, the price of pork is rising all over the country, and Jiujiang is no exception. According to his analysis, there are two main reasons for the decline in pig stocks. One is environmental protection requirements. Last year, forbidden areas, restricted areas and fertile areas were delimited in the city. All pig farms in the restricted area were closed down. Two, since last August, the African swine plague has affected the pig breeding in Jiujiang, and has seriously affected the number of pig farms that had been reduced. It is known that in the counties (cities) around Jiujiang City, there are only a few dozen or more pig farms that used to breed thousands of pigs, and their stocks have dropped sharply. It is reported that in order to encourage and support pig farmers to resume production, the central and provincial governments have promulgated relevant policies on discount loans, and Jiujiang City has not yet promulgated such policies.
