Pfizer GDF15 Monoclonal Antibody Ponsegromab Injection Applied for Clinical Application

ECHEMI 2022-05-11

On May 10, CDE's official website showed that Pfizer's clinical trial application for Ponsegromab injection was accepted. This is the first GDF15 monoclonal antibody to be declared for clinical application in China, which can be used for the treatment of cancer cachexia, solid tumors, anorexia, heart failure, etc.

Ponsegromab is currently mainly developed for the treatment of cancer cachexia (cancer cachexia). This is a secondary reaction characterized by systemic metabolic disorders mainly caused by tumor cell products and cytokines released by the body, manifested as loss of appetite, weight loss, anemia, weakness, and exhaustion. About 20% of cancer patients' deaths are related to cancer cachexia.
