In 2019, the overall price of electricity and coal fell by more than 40 CNY/ton

Since this year, all parties in the market have unanimously felt that electricity coal has fallen, but it is estimated that very few people can tell how much it has fallen. Today's think tank team made a simple analysis from two aspects, and found that this year's power coal prices fell by more than 40 yuan per ton.

Today's think tank counted the prices of Bohai Rim Port since 2019. As of September 20, the average spot price of 5500 Kcal power coal was 603 CNY/ton. In the same period last year, from January 1, 2018 to September 20, 2018, the average spot price of 5500 Kcal power coal in Bohai Rim Port was 660 CNY/ton. From this point of view, the spot price of 5500 Kcal electric coal in Bohai harbor has dropped by 57 CNY/ton!

While from the comprehensive price point of view, the decline is not so great. According to the China Electric Coal Price Index compiled by the National Development and Reform Commission Price Monitoring Center, the average price of electric coal in the first eight months of this year dropped 37.57 CNY/ton (5000 calories of power coal), a drop of 7.02%, as shown in the table below.

Today's think tank research finds that the reliability of China's coal price index is still relatively high. The index is led by the price monitoring center of the State Development and Reform Commission, with the participation of Qinhuangdao Maritime Coal Trading Market, China (Taiyuan) Coal Trading Center, Shaanxi Coal Trading Center, Inner Mongolia Coal Trading Center, Zhuozhuang Information and other trading and power enterprises.

The index shall be submitted by each unit to the National Development and Reform Commission Price Monitoring Center by converting the calorific value of natural coal into the price of representative specifications (5000 kcal). Among them, the price monitoring center of the State Development and Reform Commission monitors the arrival price of electric coal for coal-fired power generation enterprises, the offshore flat warehouse price of electric coal around Bohai Sea is monitored by the Qinhuangdao Coal Trading Market, and the comprehensive price of electric coal is monitored by other agencies, which includes spot price and long-term bargaining price. Overall, if the index is converted into 5500 Kcal of coal, it will be about 41.33 yuan per ton. Comparing with the spot price of 5500 cards in Bohai Rim Port, which was analyzed by think tanks before, the overall price of electricity and coal has fallen by more than 40 yuan per ton since this year.
