The price of national second-class coke stabilized to 1735.8 CNY/ton

ECHEMI 2020-03-30

According to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, in late September, the price of coke (secondary coke) in China was 1735.8 CNY/ton, which was the same as the previous period.

In late September, coke mills in many provinces and municipalities successively implemented shutdown and production restriction, in which coking time of coke mills was extended to 36-48 hours, and blast furnace production restriction of steel mills ranged from 50% to 100%. In addition, diesel vehicles under the Fifth National Day are forbidden to be transported everywhere, and road transportation is restricted. Based on the limited production of upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain, the supply and demand of the coke market are tightening, the coke market is dominated by stable operation, and the coke price is stable. With the end of the National Day holiday, the steel plants in Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong and other places gradually resume normal production, the daily consumption of coke increases with it, and the transportation situation in most areas has returned to normal, and the arrival of coke in steel plants is acceptable.

Coke enterprises generally take active shipment as the main factor, and the stock in the field is mostly kept at a low level. However, the demand in the middle link has not been started obviously, and the coke market as a whole has remained stable for the time being.

Profit of tonnage coke of 30 independent coking plants in China, average profit of tonnage coke in China was 87.17 yuan, down 3.36 yuan from last week; average profit of Shanxi quasi-first-grade coke was 89.34 yuan, up 4.25 yuan from last week; average profit of Shandong quasi-first-grade coke was 133.84 yuan, down 0.13 yuan from last week; average profit of Inner Mongolia second-grade coke was 52.67 yuan, flat from last week; average profit of Hebei quasi-first-grade coke was 87.93 yuan, down from last week. That's 22.64 yuan lower.

Fenwei Energy learned on October 9 that after individual coke enterprises in Tangshan area increased by 100 CNY/ton on October 10, however, the remaining coke enterprises in the main producing areas did not keep up for the time being. As the holiday just ended, the production situation of steel coke enterprises is still in a changing stage, and market participants are mostly in a wait-and-see state.

At present, due to the restriction of holiday transportation, some steelmakers in southern China have increased their efforts to replenish stores, but most of the steelmakers in northern China maintain high stock operation because of the strict production restriction of blast furnaces during the holidays. Considering that the steel mills have some replenishment behavior after the festival, they are cautiously optimistic about the short-term market.

As of October 8, the Lvliang Quasi-first-grade Metallurgical Coke Index in Shanxi Province was 1700 CNY/ton, which was the same as the previous period, and the monthly ring ratio was the same; the Tangshan Quasi-first-grade Metallurgical Coke Index in Hebei Province was 1910 CNY/ton, the cycle ratio was the same, and the monthly ring ratio was the same; the Rizhao Port Quasi-first-grade Metallurgical Coke Index was 1870 CNY/ton, which was the same as the previous period.
