On October 15 local time, at the 2019 World Steel Conference held in Monterey, Mexico, Yu Yong, Secretary of the Party committee and chairman of the board of directors of hesteel group formally took the 41st president of the World Steel Association. At the same time, Andrew johanpeter, executive vice chairman of Brazil's gaierdao group, and Sajjan Jindal, chairman and general manager of India's jingdele southwest steel company, served as vice chairmen. The conference also announced the new executive committee members of the association. In his inaugural speech, Yu Yong, on behalf of the World Steel Association, extended an invitation to the participants to meet the world steel conference 2020 in Shanghai, China. In his inaugural speech, Yu Yong said that steel is the most widely used and recyclable metal material, the foundation and guarantee of industrialization, and has made indelible contributions to the progress of human civilization. In the digital era, steel has gathered the most advanced technical force and the most abundant innovative elements in the world. Green, material, wisdom and globalization will be the theme of the development of steel industry. As the new president, he will continue to be committed to promoting the sustainable development of the world's steel industry, promoting industry exchanges and cooperation, strengthening industry development and innovation, and working together to provide the society with more environmentally friendly and intelligent steel materials, so that the world will be better because of the continuous innovation of steel.

According to Yu Yong, after China's crude steel output first exceeded 100 million tons in 1996, China's iron and steel industry ushered in a golden decade of rapid development. Meanwhile, China's iron and steel industry is further connected with the world. In 2004, the first batch of iron and steel enterprises and industry associations from China joined the World Steel Association. In 2009, China's steel industry hosted the 43rd Annual Meeting of the World Steel Association in Beijing, China for the first time. According to Yu Yong, ten years later, China's steel production and consumption have accounted for half of the world's total. With China's economic development from high-speed growth to high-quality development, China's iron and steel industry has taken the initiative to carry out transformation and upgrading, and is speeding up to "green, material, wisdom and globalization". China has launched the national carbon emission trading system, and China steel is also adapting to the change of customers' personalized needs, accelerating the intelligent transformation and upgrading. Adhering to green development and intelligent development is the basis for the healthy development of China's iron and steel industry. We are willing to work with our colleagues in the global iron and steel industry to provide environmentally friendly iron and steel materials to the whole society. Founded in 1967, the world steel association is one of the largest and most active industry associations in the world. The crude steel output of member enterprises accounts for about 85% of the total global crude steel output. Hegang group joined the World Steel Association in 2014, becoming a regular member and governing unit. In October 2016, Yu Yong became a member of the Executive Committee of the World Steel Association. In October 2018, Yu Yong was elected as the new leader of the World Steel Association (2018-2021) at the 2018 World Steel Conference held in Tokyo, Japan. During the conference, Yu Yong and other leaders of the association attended a press conference held by the World Steel Association.
