Clean and efficient utilization of coal has been advocated for many years in China, which has been strongly supported by national policies and listed in the "major national projects facing 2030". Under the background of a series of practical achievements and "re recognition" of coal status, what new problems will coal clean and efficient utilization face in the future? How to break through? At the sub forum of "clean and efficient utilization of coal energy", one of the sub forums of Taiyuan energy low carbon development forum, held on October 23, several well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad published their opinions in this field. Scientific research achievements and cutting-edge views. "The relationship between energy structure and supply and demand determines that China must vigorously promote clean, efficient and sustainable development and utilization of coal, and take this as the foothold and primary task of energy transformation and development."

Xie Kechang, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, said. In the next 20 years, coal will still occupy a dominant position in China's energy consumption structure for a long time. The clean and efficient utilization of coal is the only way out. We should accelerate the transformation of coal industry from capital and resource driven to technology innovation driven. According to zinfer ismagilov, a communication academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the development of new technologies for the utilization of carbon dioxide with high economic value is of great significance to promote the whole society to pay attention to carbon dioxide and build a sustainable development with the characteristics of green carbon cycle. In fact, the clean and efficient utilization of coal should not only focus on the transformation of coal into clean energy, but also on the development path of coal into materials. Li Zhijian, vice president of the petroleum and Chemical Industry Planning Institute, believes that for Shanxi Province, where the price of coal is high, coal-based new materials are an important way to realize the transformation of coal with high efficiency and value and to enhance competitiveness. Based on the primary products of coal chemical industry, the development of deep processing of coal chemical industry with synthetic materials and fine chemical industry as the leading products is in line with the development characteristics of coal chemical industry in Shanxi Province and the requirements of industrial upgrading, which should be focused on and studied.

Wei Xianyong, Professor of China University of mining and technology and academic leader of high-level talents of Xinjiang University, said that at present, there are obvious disadvantages of coal gasification, liquefaction, pyrolysis and other transformation technologies, such as large investment, poor operating conditions, large consumption of raw coal and water, large emissions of carbon dioxide, waste water and so on. Ilyushechkin Alexander, senior researcher of Australian federal organization for scientific and industrial research, believes that the coal gasification process can be used to produce fuel gas, as the gas for industrial kilns and urban gas, as well as synthetic gas, as the raw material of synthetic ammonia, methanol and liquid fuel, and is one of the important processes of coal chemical industry. Michael Rutkowski, global senior vice president of GTI, also believes that coal gasification is one of the important processes of clean conversion and utilization of coal. The new coal gasification technology can not only completely gasify high ash fusion point coal without adding any additives and coal blending, but also reduce the overall gas production cost by a quarter, which can provide high ash melting point coal for our province and even the whole country. Coal gasification provides a new gasification technology. According to the coal control scenario, China's coal control consumption has peaked in 2013, oil consumption will peak in 2025, and natural gas and primary energy consumption will peak in 2040. From 2013 to 2018, carbon dioxide emissions from the energy sector entered the platform period. In the 13th five year plan, the three major ways of coal reduction are cleaning, reduction and replacement, of which reduction accounts for 72.9%, replacement accounts for 17.1% and cleaning accounts for 10%.

According to Yang Fuqiang, a senior consultant of NRDC, electric power and coal power should shift from leading role to supporting role to develop clean energy in the key policies to achieve the goal of coal control in various related industries; steel industry should establish and improve the comprehensive utilization policy of scrap resources, reduce the export of high energy consuming steel, and eliminate the excess capacity of 100-150 million tons. As a matter of fact, China is the largest energy consumer in the world, and has a high degree of dependence on foreign countries. The resource endowment of "rich coal, little oil and poor gas" and the relatively backward way of energy utilization have led to the intensification of the contradiction between energy and environment. It is urgent to establish an independent, sustainable, safe, economic and large-scale energy development system suitable for China's national conditions. In the future, even in the long run, coal will still be the main body and basic energy in China. The foothold and primary task of energy transformation is to promote clean and efficient utilization of coal. We must accelerate the transformation of the development of coal industry from capital and resources to technology innovation driven mode. The sustainable development of energy security must be diversified, and the clean and efficient utilization of coal in the whole industrial chain should be realized from the aspects of driving by science and technology, green development, comprehensive quality improvement, transportation optimization, transformation and upgrading of advanced power generation, energy conservation and consumption reduction. " Yue Guangxi, a member of the Chinese Academy of engineering and a professor at Tsinghua University, said in an interview.
