bp Energy Annual Statistics Report: Which country produced the highest oil and gas production in the world last year?
According to a report by the US drilling website on June 30, 2022, according to the latest annual statistical report on world energy released by British Petroleum Corporation (bp), the world's largest crude oil producer last year was the United States, with an average daily crude oil output of 16.58 million barrels.
Compared with the 2020 production of 16.45 million barrels per day, this figure is an increase of 0.8%. The bp report highlighted that U.S. crude oil production was 17.11 million bpd in 2019, 15.31 million bpd in 2018, 13.14 million bpd in 2017, 12.35 million bpd in 2016 and 12.78 million bpd in 2015.
According to estimates, Saudi Arabia's crude oil production last year ranked second in the world at 10.95 million barrels per day. bp's report highlighted that Saudi Arabia's crude oil production fell 0.8% last year compared to 2020.
In terms of natural gas, the United States also topped the global natural gas production rankings last year. bp highlighted that the U.S. produced 934.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas last year, a 2.3% increase from 915.9 billion cubic meters in 2020.
The assessment report pointed out that the United States produced 928.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2019, 840.9 billion cubic meters in 2018, 746.2 billion cubic meters in 2017, 727.4 billion cubic meters in 2016, and 740.3 billion cubic meters in 2015.
bp's latest report highlights that last year's total global oil production was 89.87 million barrels a day, and global natural gas production was 4.03 trillion cubic meters. Compared with 2020, oil production increased by 1.6%, while natural gas production increased by 4.8%.
