Is the titanium dioxide industry 'centralized'?

ECHEMI 2019-11-22

 titanium-dioxide

According to the third quarterly report of titanium dioxide enterprises, due to the sluggish downstream demand, the market price of titanium dioxide is much lower than that of the same period of the previous year, and there is a market that is not prosperous in the peak season. Except for a few leading enterprises, most of the industry corporate performance is not satisfactory.

Among them, Jinpu Titanium achieved operating income of 1.454 billion yuan in the first three quarters, up 0.94% year-on-year; net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies was 52.473 million yuan, down 35.28% year-on-year; Annada's net profit for the first three quarters was 39.46 million yuan, The decrease was 40.87%; the net profit of Panzhihua Vanadium and Titanium decreased by 30% in the first three quarters. For changes in performance, many companies explained that the sales price of the products decreased year-on-year and the gross profit margin decreased.

The titanium dioxide market in 2019 is not ideal. The overall price of titanium dioxide is much lower than that of 2018. Although many titanium dioxide companies have announced price increases, overall, the decline is greater than the increase. In particular, the environmental protection supervision in autumn and winter has become stricter. Many downstream consumer paint companies have stopped or limited production. The demand in the peak season has decreased, and there has been a market situation in which the peak season is not prosperous or even cloudy. Therefore, the price increase has pressed the pause button.
