Hebei: complete the annual task of capacity reduction in six major industries

The reporter learned from the development and Reform Commission of Hebei Province that the annual target task of capacity reduction of six key industries in Hebei Province, namely, steel, coal, flat glass, cement, coke and thermal power, has been basically completed. As of November 14, the province has reduced its steel-making capacity by 14.0255 million tons, closed 30 coal mines and 10.06 million tons, reduced cement capacity by 3.343 million tons, reduced flat glass capacity by 6.6 million weight boxes, reduced coke capacity by 3.198 million tons, and reduced thermal power capacity by 506000 kilowatts. By the end of this year, the province's steel-making capacity is expected to be reduced from 320 million tons in 2011 to 213 million tons. The number of production sites with smelting capacity will be reduced from 148 to 70, and the number of enterprises will be reduced from 123 to 48. The cement production capacity was reduced to 206 million tons, and the goal of controlling to about 200 million tons was achieved in advance. In the next step, Hebei Province will adhere to the principle of "keeping pressure, making small and promoting large", and realize the transformation from total capacity to structural capacity and systematic capacity. We will ensure that by 2020, we will reduce and withdraw 14 million tons of steel production capacity, 6 million tons of coal, 8.4 million weight containers of flat glass, 2 million tons of coke and 500000 kilowatts of thermal power. By the end of 2020, the province's steel production capacity will be controlled within 200 million tons, and the production capacity of flat glass, coal and Coke will be controlled within 200 million weight boxes, 65 million tons and 80 million tons respectively.
