The economic census shows that the proportion of private enterprises increased

According to the report of the fourth national economic census released by the National Bureau of statistics on July 27, at the end of 2018, there were 15.614 million private enterprises in China, an increase of 10.01 million over the end of 2013, an increase of 178.6%, and the proportion of all legal entities increased from 68.3% to 84.1%. The report shows that at the end of 2018, there were 242000 state-owned holding enterprises in China, an increase of 24000 or 10.9% over the end of 2013. The number of state-owned holding enterprises accounts for only 1.3% of all enterprises, but the employees account for 15.7% of all enterprises, which is still the backbone of national economic development. The proportion of legal entities in the tertiary industry has steadily increased. According to the report, at the end of 2018, the number of legal entities engaged in the tertiary industry was 17.161 million, accounting for 78.8% of the total, 4.1 percentage points higher than that at the end of 2013. The number of employees in the legal entity of the tertiary industry is 210.677 million, accounting for 55% of all employees, up 9.1 percentage points from the end of 2013. The number of units in emerging industries increased rapidly. According to the report, the number of units in most industries has increased by different ranges compared with that at the end of 2013, but the growth rate is obviously differentiated. The high growth rate includes information transmission, software and information technology services, construction, scientific research and technology services, leasing and business services, etc. The mining industry is the only industry with a decline in the number of units, down 19000 in five years, down 21.2%. The report also shows that at the end of 2018, there were 1.075 million state-owned institutions and public institutions, an increase of 38000 over the end of 2013, and the proportion of all legal entities decreased from 9.6% to 4.9%.
