ADAMA Starts Its Own Production of Indoxacarb
ADAMA started the production of indoxacarb, an important active ingredient for the manufacture of insecticides and which was previously imported from China. With its own synthesis process, carried out in its factories in Israel and India, ADAMA will be able to develop new exclusive and differentiated formulations using an innovative and more economical process for the production of this molecule. In addition, ADAMA will also improve supply chain performance as it stops importing indoxacarb, and will gain access to a global market of approximately US$200 million in sales of the active ingredient.

Globally, ADAMA has a number of unique indoxacarb-based products and formulations that provide significant pest control in a variety of crops in different countries. "With its vast global market potential, we have identified indoxacarb as a key asset for ADAMA's differentiated product launch plan. This new in-house indoxacarb production capacity is expected to improve our autonomy, impacting availability, quality and cost." of this important active ingredient. In addition, our indoxacarb solutions now combine unique blends and innovative formulations," said Elad Shabtai, Executive Vice President, Global Operations, ADAMA.
ADAMA targets more than 15 countries with indoxacarb production, including key markets: Brazil, India and the USA. It is a key active ingredient for several insecticides, including Plethora®, from ADAMA Brazil.
In Brazil, ADAMA will work with Plethora®, which is an exclusive solution that is highly effective against caterpillars and other chewing pests. For the product manager, focused on insecticides, at ADAMA, Raphael Malandrino, “in view of the scenario of increasing pressure from caterpillars in the main crops in Brazil, the fact that ADAMA invests in the production of a molecule as important as indoxacarb gives us the security of delivering the best solutions to the farmer when he needs it most”.
ADAMA's indoxacarb is now being manufactured at its facilities in Neot Hovav, Israel, and in India, requiring a production line with state-of-the-art equipment. The process adopted is based on ADAMA patent protected chemistry, providing greater purity and better process yields. This results in a safer environmental profile process, with fewer by-products and effluents treated at source for greater sustainability.
